Wonder Drug?

I have to say i have heard very little bad press about this new drug. It is a new drug by Orphan Medical (now part of Jazz Pharmaceuticals) and it is used in the treatment of Narcolepsy with Cataplexy though from those that take it i have heard that it helps with almost every aspect of narcolepsy.

Although it has been in production for 3 decades or so, it was not until 2002 that it was licensed as a drug for use in treating Narcolepsy.

The drug is taken in liquid from and must be taken twice a night - once before bed and again about 2/3 hours after.

It is difficult to get proscribed this drug however and many PWN have to wait long periods of time with help from the doctors before they can use this drug. I went to the most recent conference for UKAN where a narcolepsy doctor said that it costs about £13000 (if i remember correctly) a year for patients to use this drug and so it is not that suprising that it is not used by all PWN.
